I am so excited to join Impact as the principal of Black River Elementary! I believe that all students can achieve at high levels. I believe that every child deserves the right to education, not only for the doors that it opens, but for the joy and recognition it can bring. I have taught kindergarten, first, and fourth grades, and most recently worked as a literacy coach in grades K-8 with KIPP DC Public Charter Schools. I am eager to connect and learn as much as possible about our scholars, families, and community!

Marcus Franklin is extremely excited to be joining the staff at Black River Elementary as School Leader in Residence. He graduated from University of Houston-Downtown with a bachelors in History and has taught multiple courses and subjects across multiple grade levels. Most recently he was an Assistant Principal of Instruction at a high school in Houston, Texas. He is very excited to be moving here to Washington and to be a part of the Impact team and family.

Joshua Vazquez is a Puerto Rico native who made Washington his home in 2017. While Mr. Vazquez’s school operations career began in 2020, he has worked in this field for several years. He began with corporate operations in 2014, where he quickly realized the education career path was his true calling. Wanting to expand his horizons, he joined a K-8 private school in 2020 in the Seattle area, serving as Operations Manager. Throughout his year there, he worked closely with the Department of Child Youth and Family Services to develop and maintain school licensure. He joined the Impact team in 2021 as Impact | Puget Sound Elementary’s School Manager. He has built and developed strong family relationships, maintained school facilities, and managed confidential student information.
